What is Relationship Coaching and how can it help me?Relationship coaching offers a structured framework for clients to reflect, learn, and experiment. This framework helps identify gaps in their relationship attitudes and skills, providing opportunities for personal growth.
-
How is relationship coaching different from relationship therapy?Relationship therapy involves exploring psychological disorders that may contribute to a client's complex clinical presentation. To provide effective therapy, the therapist must have a thorough understanding of conditions such as depression, borderline personality disorder, addiction, and trauma. Generalist psychologists, social workers, and counselors can conduct relationship therapy, and it requires an accurate assessment of the complex dynamics between people. On the other hand, relationship coaching focuses more on communication and action skills, attitudes, and learning how to effectively relate to others. It places less emphasis on clinical concerns, issues, and disorders. Relationship coaching can be performed both inside and outside of counseling and can have both clinical and non-clinical clients. Although there is some overlap between relationship therapy and coaching, they each have distinct goals and approaches.

How long does coaching take? The amount of time it takes to see the results of life coaching varies depending on your personal goals and the frequency of your sessions. However, most people tend to see positive changes in their lives within just a few weeks or months of starting life coaching. In many cases, clients may see initial positive results quite quickly. However, there are a few things that can happen during this stage. Firstly, the initial urgency that prompted the request for support may lessen, causing clients to pull back from the coaching process. Secondly, cognitive resistance can occur when changing habits, causing clients to question whether or not the changes they are making are right for them. In both cases, this is just a natural part of how our brains work. Your coach can help guide you through these doubts and struggles. However, it's also important to trust your instincts and speak up if you feel like the relationship with your coach isn't working out. A good coach will appreciate your feedback and you should continue your search for professional support if needed.

What is your coaching philosophy?I can understand that seeking help for your dating, relationship, or sex life can be a daunting task. My coaching philosophy embraces empathy and understanding to create a safe space for you to talk about your experiences. Above all, I believe that “people will do well if they can”, and that everyone deserves to have a fulfilling romantic life. Having worked with clients who have gone through difficult times, I take a trauma-informed approach that considers both the mind, body, and soul. Lastly, I truly believe there is wisdom to be gained from the past, and I incorporate principles from stoic philosophy to help you gain new insights and perspectives. Mostly, I want to be a thinking partner that listens and promotes your personal growth.
-
Will there be “homework”, I was told there would be no math? Many times there are exercises, and to-do's, that a client, or coach, will assign that might help further a client's skills or understanding. More often than not these are rewarding, fun, and/or meaningful.
-
How much does it cost? Most sessions cost $60, but we do offer packages that lower the cost for clients who want additional consistency.
-
Is coaching covered by insurance? It is legally not permissible to get insurance coverage for life coaching as life coaches are not authorized to make mental health diagnoses. However, while rare, Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can sometimes cover the costs of life coaching.
-
How long are sessions?Sessions are typically 60 minutes.
-
Can I meet with my coach virtually?Yes. Not only that, but I can, also meet with you, in person, if you are in the Coeur d'Alene, ID/Spokane, WA area.
-
Can I and my significant other attend together?Absolutely. It is highly encouraged.
